Government CV Requirements in Kenya

Government CVs in Kenya are more formal and structured than private sector CVs. The PSC and county PSBs have specific expectations. Follow these rules strictly:

  • Include your full date of birth and national ID number — these are mandatory for PSC applications
  • List ALL academic qualifications from KCSE upward — no exceptions
  • Include your KCSE mean grade and every university qualification with grades
  • Government jobs often specify "Job Group" or "Grade" — make sure your qualifications match the advertised minimum
  • Referees must be senior government officials, university professors or senior private sector professionals
💡 Important

For PSC applications, you must also fill in the standard PSC application form (Form PSC 2) in addition to submitting your CV. Download the form from psc.go.ke. Both documents are required — a CV alone is insufficient.

⚠️ Deadline Warning

PSC and county PSB application deadlines are absolute. Not a single late application has ever been accepted. Submit at least 5 days before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues on the online portal.
